The carrier has someone reading your policy. Now so do you.

A and D Adjusters represents homeowners and building owners in Chicago and the collar counties on wind, hail, water and fire claims. We document the loss and present the claim to your carrier. The first look is free.

What a public adjuster is, and is not

A public adjuster is licensed by the Illinois Department of Insurance to represent the policyholder in a property insurance claim. The adjuster your carrier sends is paid by the carrier. We are hired by you and answer to you. We have no tie to any insurance company and no tie to the State.

The work is specific. We read the full policy, including the endorsements, the wind and hail deductible and the ordinance or law coverage that most people never open. We inspect the property, photograph and measure the damage, and write a line-item scope of the loss. We present that scope to the insurance company and handle the conversation with their adjuster until the claim is resolved.

We are not a contractor and we do not arrange repairs. We are not a law firm. And we do not promise a number: a claim is worth what the policy and the documented damage say it is worth. If your claim is already fairly paid, we will call it fairly paid and you owe nothing for the look.

How we are paid. A percentage of what the policy pays, written into the contract before any work begins. No recovery, no fee. The first review of your policy and the carrier's letters costs nothing.

Claims we take

Residential and commercial property. In Chicagoland that means hail across DuPage and Kane in late spring, straight-line wind along the lake in summer, and frozen pipes in January.

  1. Wind and hailAsphalt, flat and tile roofs, siding, gutters, windows, and the interior water damage that follows.
  2. Water and freezeBurst pipes, ice dams, failed supply lines and sudden leaks. The policy wording decides coverage, so we read it first.
  3. Fire and smokeStructure, contents, smoke and soot cleaning, and additional living expense while the building is rebuilt.
  4. Denied or underpaidWe review the reason the carrier gave against the policy and the damage on site, and answer it with documentation.
  5. CommercialStrip retail, warehouses, offices and multi-family in the city and the suburbs, including business income questions.
  6. Condo and HOAMaster policies and the split between what the association covers and what the unit owner covers.

How a claim moves, start to finish

Six steps in the order they happen. Nothing is signed until step two, and nothing is accepted without you.

  1. You call or send the form

Tell us what happened, when, and what the carrier has said. Keep every letter, estimate and photo they sent.

  2. Free first look

We read the policy and the carrier's letters. If the claim looks fairly paid, we say so. If we can help, the fee goes in writing and you sign before anything else.

  3. We document the loss

Photographs, measurements and a line-item scope of the damage, with the policy language quoted where it matters.

  4. We present the claim

The scope and the documentation go to your carrier. We handle the calls and emails with their adjuster and answer disagreements with evidence.

  5. You decide

Every offer comes to you with our read on it. You accept or decline. We never settle a claim without your say.

  6. Settlement

When the carrier pays, our fee comes out of that payment at the percentage in your contract. No recovery, no fee.

About A and D Adjusters

A and D Adjusters is a new Illinois public adjusting firm working out of Chicagoland. One licensed adjuster, no call center, no sales crew. The person who answers the phone is the person who reads your policy, inspects the property and sits across from the carrier's adjuster. We take claims in Cook, DuPage, Lake, Will, Kane and McHenry counties, from a two-flat in Cicero to a strip mall in Aurora.

"I started this firm because I kept seeing the same thing: a real loss, a policy nobody had read, and a settlement letter the owner did not know how to answer. My job is to read the policy, document what actually happened and put the claim in front of the carrier in the language their adjuster uses. If it is already paid fairly, I will tell you. If it is not, I will show you why."

Your rights as an Illinois policyholder

You may cancel a public adjuster contract within the period stated in the contract. Read every page before you sign, including ours.

You are never required to use a specific contractor for repairs. We do not recommend one, and no contractor pays us for referrals.

You can speak to your insurance company directly at any time. Hiring a public adjuster does not take that away from you.

Start with a free first look

Tell us what the carrier said. We read the policy first and tell you honestly whether we can help. No cost and no obligation for the look.

We do not sell or share your information. Form delivery is connected when the site goes live.
